I was tagged by bearpicnic over on Flickr to do this wonderful new year meme but I am sorry (again) I am just doing it now…like I said in the previous uploads I have been really busy in the holidays and since I came back and I am still catching up… I thought it would be fun to post it here, too. So, this is late but here it is!

 

1. How long have you been in the BJD hobby?
I learned about the hobby in 2009, started researching about it, and by November I bought my first doll 🙂

2. How many dolls do you have at home?
Currently 13, but waiting on 4! I never thought I would have so many dolls!!!

4. Which doll have you had the longest? How long has it been?
I’ve had Beatrice, my Littlefee Ante the longest, she arrived in December 2009.

5. Which doll is your favorite?
Eliza, my Minifee Rheia. I love her to bits, she is the perfect doll and character! But I have to say my new girl Arya is close to her!

6. Are you waiting on any dolls now? If yes, which one(s)?
I am currently waiting on four dolls, I went a little insane in the end of the year and in a buying sprea, hopefully in the next year I will calm down a bit! I am also waiting on my first vinyl doll, an Obitsu (that’s exciting!).

7. What is your grail doll?
There are many dolls I like a lot but not really “grail”. When I like a doll a lot I usually try and buy her… I guess for a while the Feeple60 was my grail doll and I thought I would never buy one, however I was lucky enough to be waiting on a Chloe now!

8. Did you learn something new because of this hobby?
Yes, I improved a lot in photography since I entered the hobby, but I would love to develop other skills in this hobby, too.

9. Have you made any friends you might otherwise not have because of this hobby?
Yes, most of them online but also some real life ones! They make me so happy and inspire me so much, I am glad this hobby gives us the opportunity to meet new people 🙂

10. What are your doll plans for this coming year?
For now I want to complete my incoming and new dolls and concentrate on them and their stories. I hope I won’t buy many dolls from now on, even though I would like an SD boy… maybe! I would also like to invest some time to learn new skills, like doing face-ups or sewing for my dolls, hopefully I will have the motivation and availability 🙂

10 facts about Arya!

I thought I would do a 10 facts about my new girl to present her and to introduce her story. Hopefully it won’t be too confusing as her story is quite complex, but hopefully I will be telling you more about it soon 🙂 Enjoy!

1. Arya’s real name is Arianne Llewellyn but she goes by Arya Lyn since she escaped.

2. She is running away from her family, because she found out they want to kill her. She lives on the run basically her whole story.

3. She lives in a world different from our own, with a very strict hierarchy and a social organisation that could almost be considered medieval. However this world is more developed than our medieval society was. One curious point is that women an men are considered equals, but while women are considered pure, men always have to take care of the “dirty” stuff.

4. She was born in the elite, the “Guardians of Eden” as they are called, and she is from a very important family. They are the leaders in her world. They live in Eden, a completely artificial and “perfect” place that works like a court, and is separated from the rest of the people.

5. She always felt trapped in her life, she hates rules and being proper, she always wanted to try something else and she always wanted to see what is outside of Eden.

6. Her father and mother died when she was little, and she doesn’t remember almost anything, she was told it was an accident, but nobody really knows. She was raised by an uncle.

7. She is very discreet and quiet by nature, and she is not at all used to love or demonstrations of affection, as in Eden it is not normal.

8. She has light blue eyes, that is something really rare in her world, and she is quite self conscious about them.

9. She pretty much doesn’t know how to do anything, she was raised having servants to do everything for her. Her servants are part of another group in the society and they are caller “Gardeners” (they are the workers in this world), some of them live with the masters, but most of them live in the cities outside of Eden.

10. When she runs away she is saved by Aleksander and he brings her to a “Nomad” camp. The “Nomads” are another group of people, they live in camps and move around the world doing business and commerce. They are like hippies or gypsies, the outsiders. But they are tolerated quite well because they are needed. Arya didn’t even know they existed until she is brought there.

Here are my answers:

1. Do you blog and why?

Yes I do, sometimes not as much as I would like but lately I blog quite a lot. It kind of depends on the time I have.  I love reading about other people’s dolls and so I decided to create my own blog to share my dolly family. I also needed a place to keep all my photostories and character developments together that I could control and edit easily and that is why I decided to create my own blog.  It is an easy way to share my passion with others and also to keep myself organised.

2. How did you come up with your blog name?

You can read about the blog name and more in my About page, but here it is: My first personal site was called wishes and it always has been a word that I like. I thought it was appropriate to name my photostory series like that, it really gives a personal feeling of what is going on and my characters behaviors and ambitions 

3. Do you design your own layouts or do you prefer premades/defaults? Why?

I use premade templates in my blog and I apply minor changes, like banners, colors, fonts, images, etc, to make them a bit more personal. I like graphics and design and I would love to design my own layouts but building a wordpress template (or most blog templates) from scratch is a really hard job and it need a lot of time and web development knowledge, that I don’t have…unfortunately…

4. Do you advertise your blog at many places?

I don’t often advertise my blog, mostly I just link it over on the specific doll communities, like Facebook, Flickr, DoA, because it is about something really specific. I usually link posts that have some related content or just put the link in my signature. I am also a fan of exchanging banners with other blogs, as I love discovering new bloggers about dolls and sharing them on my site, so if you are interested just contact me!

5. Are you the type of blogger who likes to have different blogs for different subjects?

Yes, I guess. At the moment I have one blog so it is hard to know, but my blog is mostly about a specific topic and I am one of those people who likes to keep each thing in the right place and separate everything, so probably I would be like this about blogs too.

6. What is more important to you; blog popularity (lots of hits/high blog view stats/number of followers, or readers who interact with you?

Readers!!! My favorite thing about blogging is the comments part! I love reading the readers comments and answering them. It is really rewarding to know your readers are interested and take the time to comment. I know my blog is not one of high stats but I love each time a new person comments my entries 🙂 On the other hand I am a bad reader myself. I usually do not have much time to read blogs and I follow quite a lot of them so I end up rarely commenting… I would like to comment more.

7. Do you ever feel disheartened by your blog and why?

Sometimes it is hard to keep up and I spend a long time without blogging. It makes me feel like I should post something and it kind of becomes a burden, but it rarely happens. I also would like to find some more topics to post to keep things more interesting, maybe something like the weekly posts, but I still haven’t come up with the “good idea” so I am still thinking about it.

8. Have you ever deleted a blog? Why/Why not?

Not really, I moved my blog from LJ to WordPress but uploaded all the posts. I guess I am quite new to blogging for this but for now I am not considering deleting it.

9. Do you reply to comments made on your blog? Why/Why not?

Yes, always! Like I said, my favorite part is reading them and I think that it is the least I can do since the followers took the time to write them and show interest 🙂 For now I don’t have many people commenting and I manage to keep up.
10. How much time a week on average do you spend either blogging or reading blogs?

I don’t know really, it depends. Sometimes when I have more time I read my Feedly almost everyday, sometimes once a week when I am busy. However I think blogs are important to keep me updated on all my interests and hobbies.

Bee and Izzy were kind of hard to make, because they are currently going through a make-over, and they do not have a default look yet but I made them as they are right now. My Xagadoll Lara is the one that maybe is less developed because I am still in the process of getting to know her, but this is what I imagine of her now… I still have to decide her name too, I am waiting to see her in person with her new face-up to decide if the names I thought of fit 🙂

This is actually an Adult game that lets you create characters and then interact in some creepy ways…ahem, but if you  ignore some of the features you manage to create really cute characters. Here is the link if you are interested (ATTENTION: there is some ADULT content).

10 random facts about Alice

I was tagged over at Flickr and I decided to post this here too, because it was so much fun to do 🙂

Well I have been tagged a while ago but I just had time to do this now! I am doing it about Alice, because she is the new character and she is still getting used to having her own body, so it is worth celebrating 🙂

1. Alice Bradford is George’s younger cousin, she is 20 years old. When George stopped talking with his family she was the only one who never lost contact with him.

2. Her best friend is Charlotte, they met at ballet classes when they were just 5. They used to spend all summers together until Charlotte’s parents died.

3. She is the only character of mine that was born from the photostories, I needed a connection between Charlotte and George and I created an imaginary cousin named Alice. She was not even supposed to be a doll, but she took so much protagonism in the story that I ended up wishing to have her resin version.

4. She is blond and has light brown eyes (the ones she is wearing are green, just because she is still waiting for her new ones), although most of her family has blue eyes. That is probably the only thing that she is insecure about in the way she looks.

5. She loves dressing up and trying new things, she will probably be seem wearing anything that comes to her hands.

6. She loves projects: her favorite past-time is doing make-overs on people or playing the match-maker.

7. She is spoiled and not used to hearing “no”, for the good and for the bad. This makes her really persistent and also really annoying sometimes.

8. She does not dream about getting married, on the contrary, she is more the independent kind of girl that sees boys as obstacles to be herself and fulfill her dreams.

9. She is currently studying Journalism at university. Her dream is to be a fashion editor for Vogue someday or be a war journalist.

10. Her passion is dance. She started classical dance when she was 3 and since then she tried many styles. Her favorite one is contemporary.
