Long time no see… News and explanations!

Hello everyone!
No, I have not been kidnapped or left the hobby, I am still here! I know it’s been an eternity since I posted anything at all (almost 6 months). I have had moments where I thought about posting, but at first there was so much happening and no certainties, making me uncomfortable to make any announcement without knowing for sure what was going to happen. And after a while when everything seemed to be taking a direction, I still didn’t have time or energy to do a lot with dolls, there were to many other things to think about. I am really sorry for not keeping everyone here updated though… and that is the main reason why I decided to post today.

If you follow me on YouTube you probably know what has been happening (I kept posting some updates over there, even if not very often), but I will let you know really quickly why I disappeared from my blog. Basically, it started when in March my boyfriend (with whom I lived) had to move to a new city because of a job. Since we weren’t sure if it would just be temporary or not, we decided to give it some time before we took any decisions and therefore we started living apart in two different cities and seeing each other only on weekends. My job is really demanding currently and I get home exhausted during the week with close to no energy to dedicate to the hobby. And this situation obviously made me want to spend most of my free time (and also only possible doll time) with my boyfriend. Therefore I started doing doll-related things rarely and sporadically, and I basically reduced the time I dedicated to the doll communities. I make videos sometimes because, for me, they ended up being an easiest way to update my doll friends and followers on what is going on, since it is so much faster than writing. Don’t get me wrong, I still play with my dolls and plan stuff for them or make projects, but since I don’t have a lot of time it is not as “intense” as before.

The good news is that everything worked out for my boyfriend and I recently found a job close to him myself,  so I am going to be moving there in the middle of October, which is very soon! 🙂 We started moving and packing in August and unfortunately most of my dear dolls are currently in storage waiting for me to move definitely… this is sad but it is for a good cause and I am really excited about the changes going on! We will have a new apartment that will be much bigger than my current one, we will also have space dedicated to my dolls and maybe even a crafting and a photo space. YAY! I always wanted that! 😀 I also hope that this change will help me dedicate more time to the hobby, to my doll projects (I have so many pending for multiple reasons) and to the online community, because I miss you guys and I miss posting about my dolls!!!

If you follow me on Flickr or Youtube you probably know this already but there are also some updates in my collection!!! Exciting!!! 😀

First of all I got a new SD boy in the end! He got here last week and he is awesome!!! He is a Migidoll M-Style Yujin on the new BNB 16th Body ❤ He is currently naked just because I didn’t really prepare much for him and the stuff I got either didn’t work or didn’t fit. I will let you know soon – when he is finally dressed (probably after I move) more about him and his story. But he will be part of my SD story: The Travellers.

The other surprise, also for me since it was a completely impulse buy, is that I got a new SD doll that I have wanted for quite a while but never justified getting: a Supiadoll Rosy! I had this dream about a new character that could be part of Ophelia’s world and I was quite intrigued by her. When I found this doll on the DoA Marketplace I just had to get her for this character, she really spoke to me! So that happened and she got here last week. YAY! Like my new boy she is still lying around in improvised temporary looks since all my doll clothes and things are currently in storage… but I am so happy about them 😀

Here is a quick and dark cellphone picture of the two together (you find their BO’s on my Youtube channel):

Two new gorgeous arrivals this week!!! My Supiadoll Rosy and my first SD boy Migidoll Yujin! They look amazing despite the nakedness and not have their own eyes/wigs, and more surprising: they look so well together!!! I am tempted to change his character

I also got a new  Azone: Pureneemo Character Series Movie K-ON Hirasawa Yui and a Ruruko Doll: the Dreaming (YUMEMIRU) version (details and presentations in another future post)! Which is quite big since I have wanted a short-haired Azone and a Ruruko for sooooo long! You find their arrival videos on my Youtube channel if you like 🙂

And I guess those are the biggest news that happened lately! Hopefully I will let you know more soon, probably when I move and manage to move and organise stuff at home enough to take out the doll stuff. Meanwhile feel free to follow me on Youtube (I am wishes over there), I post videos over there most of the times I have updates, even if not as often as I would like to…

Have a wonderful end of the week and see you soon! ❤

Thankfulness tag

WennieBJD tagged me over at Flickr to do this new year tag and I thought it would be fun to post it here, too 😉 I am kind of late, I am just doing this now but I only came back from a break this week and obviously after vacation things start really busy and you just have no time to catch up!

I am so late on commenting on people’s pictures, posts and videos! I guess it will take a while until I finally catch up with everything… maybe I won’t be able to comment on everything I passed (internet moves so fast!) but I will be sure to get updated on all the news while I have been away!

Thankfulness tag

TAG Rules:

The end of the year is a time when many people take a moment to reflect on the past year. In your “doll life” what are five things you are thankful for?

If you would like to play this tag game, please take a photo of one of your favourite dolls, list five doll-related things you are thankful for, and also tag the person who tagged you along with at least five additional people 🙂

If you have Flickr feel free to do it, too, and post the link in a comment! I would love to read it 🙂

1. First of all, I am so thankful I met new people through the hobby! I am glad to have found out about YouTube and the BJD community there (I just wish I had more time for making my own videos). I have a new dolly penpal, that I love (she is the sweetest, she sent me so many beautiful gifts and I love sharing everything about the hobby and more with her). I also love that going to LDoll made me meet so many new people and discover a great new doll friend! Hopefully I will be seeing her again soon 😉

2. I am really happy I finally completed so many of my dolls with final looks and even backgrounds this year! Some of them have been a hard journey but belief in them really pulled through! I love how my doll collection looks at the moment, they couldn’t be more perfect!

3. I felt so down and disappointed with the hobby around the middle of the year, I felt my dolls did not mean the same to me anymore and I was so uninspired! I am soooo glad I decided to try new things and go beyond my safety zone! I got new dolls, some I sold because they didn’t work, some old ones had to go, but in the end I am really thankful I did it! I have to say I understand what I need in this hobby now, I love my characters and I have so grateful for my newest girls: Pandora and Arya (in the photo): They really brought the inspiration back to me and I now feel I love all my dolls again!

4. I am grateful for my boyfriend that always supported me and helped me acquire so many beautiful dolls! I love that I can talk to him about them and their stories 🙂

5. Finally, I am sooo excited about the dolls I have on the way (currently 4 0.0). So the new year certainly looks promising dolly-wise!

Hopefully 2014 will be even better than 2013 for me and all of you wonderful dolly-people!!!! Happy 2014! ❤

New eyes and other news

My order from Captured in Glass from DoA arrived and my girls got new eyes!!! I love their eyes: the quality is amazing and the price is really good (only 8.38$ a pair). Five out of my 13 dolls are currently wearing CiG eyes so I must love them, hehe 😀

Unfortunately this time I had a small issue with the order. I bought a pair of 6mm for Penny (my Xagadoll Lara) and they are of two different colours (the right eye is the actual colour I wanted, the other is much lighter and almost white), but I immediately contacted Lu and he was very undertanding about my complaint. He offered to send me a new pair soon for free, so I even made another order that will be coming together with it. The only problem is that since these orders come with Airmail from China they usually take a lifetime to arrive!!! Hopefully it will be faster than last time because it isn’t August anymore…and my little girl will have her eyes at last!

New eyes!

The search for Izzy’s perfect look continues! She also got some new eyes. I have too say they are pretty cute, although they are so much more blueish than I expected…in the pictures they seem like a turquoise-greenish tone. I guess they are not yet final but she will be keeping them for now 🙂

New eyes!

She got her temporary wig back for a second to do this picture, but since the new girl has been using it lately, it didn’t last long…:

Isabelle: Hey! Where did it go?
New girl: I’m sorry little girl, but I’m keeping the wig!

As in other news:

I just wanted to add a couple of other news in the blog and in the dolly communities in general.

I had been planning to change the Doll Family page of the blog for quite a while now and I finally did it. I added an individual picture of every doll I own plus some profile info about them. I am planning (actually I have been for a long long time but I never got to it) to write the rest of the backstories at least for my characters in the photostories. They are actually a lot of fun to do so I hope to do them soon, but for now only George and Eliza have them.

I also added a photostory index of all my dolly stories, so that it is easier to find a specific story or go through them, you can find it in the Photostory page in the blog menu.

And finally I decided I am not using ipernity anymore. My subscription as a club member ended and I am not renovating it. I understood that most people keep using Flickr and I decided I will too, as I am managing to get used to their new system and that’s where the community is (I guess that’s the most important). I also understood that it is really hard to keep up with the two accounts in the end…I always forgot to upload stuff there. I will keep this account for now, at least to try to keep up with the few people who left Flickr for good. But there will be no updates or uploads!

Vanilla gets some love <3

Pretty in pink <3

Vanilla is one of my oldest dolls and probably the one who gets less attention and spoiling in the family. Like I posted a while ago in my blog we always had a love-hate relationship even if I never managed to sell her (pukis are a hard size for me: hard to dress, to find eyes-wigs, hardo to pose and photograph), but a while ago I finally managed to make her look like I wanted all along with a new wig and a pair of eyes and I promised I would get her some nice clothes as soon as there was a chance.
So here she is, being spoiled!!! This is a really sweet “fairylike” set from Fairyland I got for her and I LOVE it!!! It’s totally her! She looks positively adorable in it! ❤
And since she needed some spoiling (and clothes) urgently, we are currently waiting for 3 beautiful new dresses by Carla Benham! I will post pics soon (hopefully!)

As for other news…
For those who follow my photos: I decided that for now I am keeping BOTH, Flickr and Ipernity. I saw that most of my contacts over on Flickr are staying so I will be keeping it and I am getting used to most changes (even if they are really annoying sometimes) and also waiting to see if they improve at least some of the mistakes they made. But well, for me right now what really matters is the community so I am staying. However I am also keeping the Ipernity account (I am trying out the Club for 3 months to see if I like it) and I will try to upload pics on both of them.

Keeping my options open: Ipernity

After the latest flickr drama, that you might have heard about (if not you can check my reaction here in the previous post), I decided to take a break from Flickr while I decide if I’m keeping it or not.

I am still keeping Flickr for now, I have too many photos there, too many contacts and it’s just hard and a lot of work to move. Moreover I am waiting to see how things go, what they do and what my flickr friends decide to do… if everyone starts going it makes no sense to keep my account…

I am also keeping my options open: like I said before I created an account at ipernity, it looks ok, but I am still exploring to see if I like it. For now it is quite easy to use and nice looking (surprisingly similar to old Flickr 0.0, but well…in this case that’s good). I personalised a bit and I uploaded the latest pics from Flickr as place-holders while waiting for their promised plug-in to upload them directly from there (which makes things much easier).

I was quite happy to see many familiar faces too, I guess most people were unhappy with the latest developments and decided to give it a try. Please feel free to add me there if you have an account 😀
